  • Lantern Festival Celebrations in Changsha (Feb. 4-28)

    The Lantern Festival, also known in China as the Yuan Xiao Festival, with a history of more than 2,000 years, falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar. People celebrate this festival by watching the full moon, guessing the answers to riddles written on lanterns and eating tangyuan (glutinous rice dumplings) with their families.

  • Online Lantern Riddle Guessing Game at Changsha Mass Art Center (Feb. 22-26)

    The Lantern Festival, a traditional Chinese festival, is celebrated on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It falls on February 26 this year. The Changsha Mass Art Center launches an online lantern riddle guessing game, starting on February 22 and ending on  26. The lantern riddles are original and associated with Changsha.

  • “The Sound of Oscar-winning Films” Symphony Concert (Feb. 25)

    A symphony concert entitled “The Sound of Oscar-winning Films” will be staged at Hunan Grand Theatre on the evening of February 25, the 14th day of the first lunar month. It is part of the Hunan New Year Performance Season. It will be conducted by the USA-based youth conductor Wu Bo, and performed by the Changsha Symphony Orchestra.

  • 2021 Meixi International Lantern Show (Feb. 4-28)

    The lantern show displays new-type main lights with high-tech elements and festive classic lanterns. More than 60 groups of large lanterns are on display in a 700,000-sqm exhibition space, forming a sea of lanterns and creating a festive and peaceful atmosphere. The lanterns will be lit from 18:00 to 22:00 and the show will last until February 28.

  • 2021 Intangible Cultural Heritage New Year Shopping Festival (Jan. 16-Feb. 7)

    The 2021 Intangible Cultural Heritage New Year Shopping Festival is being held at the Changsha Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall in Orange Isle Scenic Area, Changsha between January 16 and February 7. It was organized by the Changsha Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center.

  • 3rd Chinese Poetry Teaching Conference (Dec. 25-27)

    A press briefing for the 3rd Chinese Poetry Teaching Conference was held on December 13. It announced that the conference will be held in Changsha from December 25 to 27, to pay tribute to the upcoming centenary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.
