The closing ceremony of The Rhyme of Winter: Changsha Fourth International Music Season 2019 and the press conference for The Sound of Spring: Changsha Fifth International Music Season 2020 were held at the Changsha Concert Hall on December 31, 2019. Having been held for four consecutive years, the Changsha International Music Season has become Changsha’s important urban cultural brand.
The music season 2020 lasts from January 2 to April 18, 2020. Nearly 600 artists from 10 countries including Germany, Russia, Italy, Australia, Thailand, France, the United States and the United Kingdom will bring nearly 30 wonderful music feasts as well as many non-profit master classes and art lectures. It started with a New Year concert performed by the Sinfonische Blasorchester des Bayerischen Blasmusikverbands, the best wind orchestra in Bavaria, Germany; and will end with a concert by the Changsha Symphony Orchestra.
The music season includes a series of New Year concerts. The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, which once played an important role in art exchanges between China and the former Soviet Union, will perform during the art season. Violinist Lv Siqing, known as the “Chinese Paganini”, will play the classic “The Butterfly Lovers”. The Melbourne Lyric Opera House will stage one of the world’s top ten operas, “The Barber of Seville”. Thai singer Vanatsaya Viseskul, who is often referred to as “Little Teresa Teng”; American drummer Steven Bruce Smith; and international pianist Wu Muye will also participate.
The year 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of German composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Special concerts to commemorate Beethoven will be held during the music season.
