6th China-Russia “Yangtze River-the Volga” Youth Forum (July 16-27)
The 6th China-Russia “Yangtze River-the Volga” Youth Forum opened at Hunan University, Changsha, on July 16, 2019. The attendees included 132 Russian youths from 14 Russian federal subjects, and 180 Chinese youth representatives from six Chinese provinces (municipalities) along the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River. They will have 12-day exchange activities, to have a taste of Hunan culture, and consolidate friendships.
This session’s theme is “Youth – Meet Dream”. It is hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and undertaken by the Hunan Office of Foreign Affairs Commission, Hunan Department of Education, Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and the Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan municipal governments. Central South University, Hunan University, and Hunan Normal University are responsible for organizing the activities.
State Councilor Wang Yong addressed the opening ceremony. Oleg Mashkovtsev, deputy presidential plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Volga Federal District, read out the message from Igor Komarov, presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Volga Federal District. Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress director, attended, and Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, delivered a speech.
Meng Yang, deputy secretary-general of the State Council, and Hunan governmental leader Wu Lan, Hu Henghua, Zhang Jianfei, and Wu Guiying, and Vice Governor of Jiangxi Province Wu Zhongqiong, were present.
The following 12-day activities are composed of four parts: Hunan’s profile; science and education; culture and arts; and, geography. Chinese and Russian representatives will be divided into five groups, to learn about Chinese and Hunan history and culture, folk customs, sci-tech innovation, industrial development, and revolutionary history. These will help enhance their understanding about Hunan, and consolidate friendship between Chinese and Russian youths.
