China's Space Day Major Events in Changsha (Apr. 24)
China designated April 24, 2016 as the first-ever "Space Day." It's also the 46th anniversary of the successful launch of the country's first satellite, 'Dong Fang Hong' or 'The East is Red.' The country's aerospace industry has become a high-tech sector with strategic significance.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is of great significance to host the ‘China’s Space Day’ activities in Hunan, the hometown of the founding leader, Chairman Mao Zedong. Hunan has taken aviation and aerospace as an important part of the manufacturing powerhouse construction, and the in-depth development of civil-military integration. We have achieved fruitful results thanks to the guidance and support of MIIT and SASTIND.
Hunan government expected that, through holding these events, Hunan will promote international cooperation in the aerospace industry, and foster innovative spirit and entrepreneurship among the whole society, especially the youth. This will infuse dynamism into high-quality development. The Hunan government will strengthen coordination, clarify themes, embody characteristics, highlight effectiveness, and make good publicity. It will strive to make the Space Day into a good window to display China's aerospace image, and establish a new platform for exchanges and cooperation in the aerospace field.
