2018 Hunan-America Friendly Exchange Week Opens
The 2018 Hunan-America Friendly Exchange Week was inaugurated in Changsha on October 22. Representatives from Hunan’s friendly cities in the U.S.A, and American enterprises in Hunan, were present at the opening ceremony. They talked about Hunan-America exchanges in recent years, and the future cooperation.
The event is hosted by the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government. It will last for four days. The participants will visit the Hunan Library, the Hunan-North California International Innovation Center, and several industrial parks. They will learn about Hunan’s social and economic development, and the international friendly-city associations, and seek cooperation opportunities.
Zhuzhou-Durham Committee Chair Mark Goodwillie spoke at the opening ceremony that he came to seek inspirations and advices, to keep long-lasting friendship. He suggested that the two places would facilitate exchange mutual visits of educational institutions, clubs, sports teams, and government departments, and encourage people to communicate in such areas of food, environmental protection, and music.
Deputy Director-General of Hunan’s Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Ye Jingsong marked that Hunan has 84 international friendly-cities, among which 16 are in the U.S. Remarkable achievements have been made in technical innovation cooperation between Hunan and North California, Georgia, and Colorado. A batch of Hunan companies took the opportunity that the friendly-city ties bring to explore international market.
Hunan’s international friendly-city exchange week plays an important role in facilitating friendly-city cooperation, Ye said. Hunan has established mechanism for the resident representatives from the international friendly-cities, and special representatives for international exchanges. He also invited the friendly cities in the U.S. to send resident representatives to Hunan.
