Government leaders to probe PPRD region development
Changsha will host the 2017 Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Cooperation Chief Executive Joint Conference on Sept 24-25, according to a press conference held in the Hunan province capital on Sept 18.
The annual gathering aims to enhance exchanges and promote cooperation within the Pan Pearl River Delta region.
It will be the 14th consecutive time since its approval by the State Council, China's cabinet, in 2004 and the second time for Central China's Hunan province to host such meeting.

Government leaders will come together to deliberate on how to deepen regional cooperation and share insights regarding how to achieve greater development in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as well as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area project.
According to the press conference, interactive discussions focusing on four significant topics will be addressed by the leaders at the gathering.
Among the topics to be discussed include how to promote interconnectivity in the PPRD region, advance the implementation of the BRI, and how the BRI will boost the development of the PPRD during the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area project.
The working group will also discuss how to deepen cooperation in technology and innovation to promote integrated development of industries and make concerted efforts to protect the environment.
In addition, leading cadres will sign a memorandum of understanding on customs clearance cooperation and a cooperation agreement to establish a tourism alliance in the region as well as a consensus on the establishment of a cooperation fund.

Covering one-fifth of national territory, one-third of the country's population and one-third of the economic volume, the PPRD region includes nine provincial regions - Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan as well as the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
The host, Hunan province, in recent years has achieved significant results in various fields such as transportation, industrial cooperation, environmental protection and medical insurance.
