Epic drive from Changsha to Moscow begins
A fleet of cars carrying one thousand people set out from Changsha, Hunan province, bound for Moscow, Russia, on June28.
The epic driving event is part of a Sino-Russian Red Tourism Communications Project put forward by the National Tourism Administration and lasting from July to September. The project aims to promote China's red tourism, tourism featuring visits to historical sites with a revolutionary legacy, as well as strengthen bilateral ties between China and Russia.

Setting off from Changsha, the fleet will gather with other motorists from Yan'an, Shannxi province, on July 1 for an official opening ceremony in Beijing. The fleet will then travel to Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia, for an exit ceremony, before finally arriving for a promotional conference in Moscow.
Chen Zhong, deputy mayor of Changsha, said red culture is the calling card of Changsha's tourism industry, and Changsha is fully capable of establishing itself as a national tourism center city and a tourist destination with worldwide fame and popularity.

"The Russia-bound driving activity is a good opportunity for Changsha to promote itself as a tourist city," Chen added.
There will be another two driving activities in August and September.
