China’s First Robotaxis Debut in Changsha
China’s first batch of Level 4 (fully automated driving) driverless taxis – Robotxi Hongqi E-Jie, made their debut at the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone on August 2. A public road test run with passengers will be launched within the year.
Summer Travel Peak Seen at Changsha South Railway Station

The station transports more than 120,000 passengers per day. Passengers are mainly students, tourists, and people who visit relatives and go on business trips.
Changsha-Yiyang Expressway Expansion Project Under Construction
The photo, taken on July 26, shows construction workers laying steel bars for the Changsha Wangcheng Section of the Changsha-Yiyang Expressway Expansion Project.The expansion project is 50.28 kilometers long. At present, 80% of the roadbed and bridge construction and 90% of the tunnel construction have been completed.
Hunan Plans 5G-based Smart Expressway Project
The Hunan Department of Transportation announced on July 29 that, 5G-based smart expressway project will launch in Hunan. The first 113-km expressway sections in the project include the northwest and southwest sections of the Changsha Belt Expressway, and the extension and modification section of the Changsha-Yiyang Expressway.
3 Mobile Apps Optional for Bus and Subway Rides in Changsha
From the morning of July 22, the Changsha bus app, called Xiangxing Yikatong (“湘行一卡通”) is available for Changsha metro rides. Meanwhile, the Changsha metro app (“长沙地铁”) is also available for bus rides. This means that passengers can use either of these two apps to take bus or subway in Changsha.
Changsha Metro Line 1 Begins to Introduce “Different Temperatures on the Same Train”
Recently, as the temperature rises, the Metro Line 1 has introduced different temperatures on the same train. Carriages are divided into “cold” and “warm”. Passengers can choose carriages based on their favored temperature.
