Fully Self-service Customs Clearance Available at Changsha Huanghua Int’l Airport
The Changsha Huanghua International Airport (hereafter referred to as “Changsha airport”) announced on September 10 that, Changsha airport customs clearance capacity upgrading project has passed the acceptance check and completed trial operation. It was put into official operation that day. This means that fully self-service customs clearance is available at the airport now.
In the past, inbound passengers arriving at the Changsha airport had to wait in a long line to go through the luggage check channel. Now, passengers can pass through a self-service gate with their luggage to finish the whole customs clearance process.
The Changsha Airport has adopted advanced equipment such as the country’s first “fully intelligent labeling machine”. It uses the Internet of things, artificial intelligence and intelligent video monitoring technology to realize remote identification of inbound passengers’ luggage and its positioning within the supervision area. This means that passengers imperceptibly complete the backstage’s “strict inspection”, which can greatly improve clearance efficiency.
Customs clearance time for inbound passengers at the Changsha airport has been reduced from 30 to 40 minutes to 5 to 10 minutes per person. Customs clearance efficiency has been increased by more than 3 times.
Outbound travel from the Changsha airport is also more convenient. Passengers can enjoy whole-process self-service port customs clearance after they finish check-in at the counter.
At the international (regional) passenger departure hall, three self-service security check gates have been set up near the pre-inspection manual channel. This allows passengers to go through security check just by showing their faces or swiping their boarding passes. The original 2 temperature check channels at the customs clearance area have been upgraded to 4 intelligent ones. The number of self-service inspection channels at the border inspection area has been increased from 4 to 11.
Between August 1 and September 9, the number of domestic flights taking off and landing at the Changsha airport has increased by 4.3% from last year, and the passenger throughput of domestic flights recovered to 98.2% of the same period last year. The Changsha airport recently resumed regular flights between Changsha and Bangkok. It will continue to resume more international or regional routes. More passengers will be able to experience the airport’s convenient self-service customs clearance.
