Yuelu Academy, where Wang is studying, was founded in 976 at the foot of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province. The academy, where the cream of Chinese culture, including Confucian classics, social etiquette, writing and calligraphic skills, are taught, was among the four most prestigious ancient academies in China, and later became part of Hunan University.
Changsha Museum of Art
The Changsha Museum of Art is a public welfare cultural institution subordinate to the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio and Television. It mainly collects, researches, and displays fine works of modern and contemporary Hunan-born artists and those having important art activities in Hunan, as well as works by master calligraphers and painters.
Xiangjiang Joy Town Amusement Park
The Xiangjiang Joy Town Amusement Park officially opened to the public on July 11. It was built above an abandoned pit more than 100 meters deep in Changsha's Pingtang subdistrict as part of efforts to restore the environment and boost urban development.
Changsha Ecological Zoo
Changsha Ecological Zoo was opened to the public in Oct. 2010. It was built based on the former Changsha Zoo which has existed for 54 years. It now has an area of 1,500 mu (1 million square meters) and was designed by famous designers from China and Japan.
Changsha Polar Park Opens
A polar park, the largest of its kind in Hunan, was opened in Changsha on August 18. Located in the Changsha Ecological Zoo, the park currently has 16 penguins, five sea lions, eight Arctic wolves, and 20 sharks, as well as four polar bear specimens from Canada.
