Eight Categories of Red Tourism Attractions Announced

On March 17, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced eight categories of red tourism attractions. The department launched the selection of featured red tourism scenic areas across the province, in a bid to further build red tourism brands, promote the high-quality development of red tourism, and deepen the integration of culture and tourism.  

The attractions were recommended by local tourism authorities and selected after going through onsite presentation, online voting, and expert review. The publicity period will run from March 18 to 26, 20201. 

The eight categories of red tourism attractions include: 

1. Shaoshan Scenic Area in Shaoshan City

  Liu Shaoqi’s Former Residence and Memorial Hall in Ningxiang City

  Peng Dehuai’s Former Residence and Memorial Hall in Xiangtan County

2. Yuelu Mountain-Orange Isle Scenic Area

  Former Site of the Hunan First Normal University in Tianxi District

  Yang Kaihui’s Former Residence in Changsha County 

3. Hu Yaobang’s Former Residence-Autumn Harvest Uprising Memorial Hall in Liuyang City

  Former Site of Pingjiang Uprising in Pingjiang County

  Southern Hunan Uprising Headquarters Former Site in Yizhang County

  Rucheng Conference Former Site of Southern Hunan Uprising in Rucheng County

4. Revolutionary Base Area Memorial Hall of Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, and Guizhou Provinces in Yongding District

  Ciyantang Town, Longshan County, Xiangxi

  Revolutionary Base Area Former Site of Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, and Guizhou Provinces in Yongshun County

5. Shazhou Scenic Aare in Rucheng County

 Guidong Military Regulations Square

 Chen Shuxiang Memorial Hall in Daoxian County

 Laoshanjie Mountain in Chengbu County and Xinning City

 Tongdao Red Army Long March Transfer Memorial Hall

 Second Front Red Army Long March Departure Place in Liujiaping Township, Zhangjiajie City

 Red Army Slogan Museum in Yanling County

6. Former sites of Battle of Changsha, Battle of Changde, Battle of Hengyang, Battle of Xiangxi, and former site of acceptance of Japan’s surrender in Zhijiang

7. Ren Bishi’s Former Residence in Miluo City

  Lin Boqu’s Former Residence in Linli County

  Luo Ronghuan’s Former Residence in Hengdong County

  He Long’s Former Residence in Sangzhi County

  Su Yu’s Former Residence in Huitong County
