Located in the Xiangjiang Scenic Belt, the Locomotive Cultural Park is the former site of Changsha South Railway Station. The park, featuring a locomotive and several iron carriages, was once a nostalgic place for Changsha residents and a popular attraction for tourists. However, the locomotive and carriages were left unattended since the park opened in 2010. Being exposed to the open air and in disrepair for a long time, they were damaged seriously. Therefore, the park began to renovate its old locomotive and carriages from August 13, 2018, aiming to create a train-themed demonstration park and provide visitors with better touring experience. The park will reopen to the public free of charge after the renovation, which is expected to be completed by the end of May 2019.
