Xiangshan small town in Ningxiang county, Changsha, fresh from the local government's 60 million yuan "beautiful village" renovation work, has recently opened to tourists.
Claimed to be built into China’s purest town by its renovators, Xiangshan small town featured environmental protection and harmony between people and nature in its improvement project. Renovation work was done on both private housing and façade transformation of commercial buildings in the town market.

"We didn't want the renovated buildings to follow the same pattern. We tried to present a country village with various styles through different materials, models and colors," said Sun Chunhua, a town official.

The town also boasts 90 percent green coverage and 13,000 negative oxygen ions every square centimeter, making it a natural oxygen bar.
Ningxiang county in Changsha is one of China's top 40 counties in economic strength according to a 2015 national report, ranking 39th. Xiangshan small town is expected to grow into a popular destination for tourists.
A self-management committee comprised of 140 representatives elected from the general public was set up at the beginning of this year to maintain order and protect the local environment.
