2018 Changsha Wangcheng International Triathlon Concludes
On the morning of September 16th, the 2018 Changsha Wangcheng International Triathlon was opened in Qianlong Lake Recreational Sports Town. Ruan Zhiyang, technical officer of the China Triathlon Sports Association, Chen Zhong, deputy mayor of the Changsha Municipal People's Government, Li Ping, vice chairman of the CPPCC Changsha Municipal Committee and director of the Changsha Sports Bureau, attended the opening ceremony.
A triathlon is a multisport race with three continuous and sequential endurance races. While variations of the sport exist, the most common form includes swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. There were 20 world champions competing in the professional elite group, including 13 men and 7 women. Triathletes were from 8 countries including the United States, Australia, Canada and France. They have rich experience in international competitions and have won numerous championships.
Craig Alexander, from Australia won the men's overall course completion special group championship with the score of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 8 seconds, and Lauren Gauss, from the United States won the women’s in 2 hours, 17 minutes, and 1 second.
