2020 Changsha New Year Concert Held

The 2020 Changsha New Year Concert was held at the Changsha Concert Hall on the evening of December 28.

The concert was hosted by the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government. It was conducted by Zheng Xiaoying, the first female conductor in China and Xiao Ming, chief of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra and first-class national conductor; and performed by the Changsha Symphony Orchestra. Violinist Huang Bin, suona player Zhang Qianyuan, and singer Huang Huali also participated. 

In the first half of the concert, under the direction of Zheng Xiaoying, Chinese composer Guo Wenjing's orchestral music “Riding the Wind” expressing the festive atmosphere and German composer Beethoven's masterpiece “Symphony No. 5” were staged.

A variety of Chinese and foreign classics were performed in the second half of the concert, including Spanish violinist Sarasate's expressive violin music Fantasía Carmen, the suona solo “Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix”, the magnificent “Yellow River Piano Concerto” 4th Movement, and, the Hunan-style chorus “Liuyang River”.
