In recent years, Changsha has mapped out scientific and practical plans for its night markets, and stepped up efforts to beautify, illuminate, and afforest these regions. It has given priority to developing nighttime economy in seven types of areas, namely, central business districts (CBDs), tourist attractions, densely populated areas, urban leisure functional areas, back streets and alleys with consumption traditions, historical and cultural blocks, and recreational functional areas. Its “nighttime economy” has gradually become a “hot economy”. Recently, Changsha was selected as one of China's Top 10 Most Influential Cities of Nighttime Economy.
