A “Yuelu Ambassador’s Initiative” was outlined focusing on regional sci-tech cooperation and sharing; and promotion of economic and trade connectivity, and educational and cultural cooperation.
The event is a part of the World Language Resources Conference. It was co-hosted by Hunan University (HNU) and Beijing Language University. It is aimed to facilitate economic, educational, and cultural exchange and communication, and to promote connectivity and cooperation under the globalization trend.
HNU President Duan Xianzhong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He marked the significance of the dialogue to its venue–Hunan University located at the foot of Yuelu Mountain. In 1167, Chinese famous philosophers Zhu Xi and Zhang Shi gave lectures and held discussions together, which is still remembered today. Today, the foreign ambassadors and Chinese experts hold dialogues together here. It shows the tradition passes on; and it demonstrates that a different story about learning from each other begins.
During the dialogue, the ambassadors and experts, as well as representatives of commercial and educational departments, exchanged views on “China-foreign bilateral and multilateral economic and commercial connectivity”, and “people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and mutual learning of different civilizations”. A “Yuelu Ambassador’s Initiative” was outlined, targeting to intensifying multilateral and bilateral economic and trade, sci-tech, educational, and cultural cooperation; encouraging dialogue among civilizations; and, building a community of shared future for mankind.
