Epic Dance Drama “Da Di Song Ge”

Updated: 2020-10-05

The Hunan Provincial People’s Government Information Office held a press conference of the epic dance drama “Da Di Song GE (the Ode to Hometown)” in Changsha on September 13. The drama will be staged on September 27, 28, and 29, and October 17, at the Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Center.

The drama was created based on the story of Hunan’s Shibadong Village. Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected Shibadong Village in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in November 2013, and first put forward the concept of "targeted poverty alleviation". Over the past seven years, Hunan has implemented Xi’s instruction and forged ahead in poverty relief. A number of touching stories and persons emerged, which are the prototypes of the drama.

A prominent performing and creation team consisting of over 300-person cast from around the country has been set up, with outstanding Hunan performers in the majority. The 2-hour drama has a preface, six acts, and an epilogue. More than 300 Songs, dances, and music are innovatively integrated. Modern technologies will enable the audiences to have immersed interactions.

After four shows in Changsha, the drama will be staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing on November 6 and 7. Ticket booking will be open on damai.cn soon.
