October 1st is China's National Day which is to commemorate the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. This year, the National Day Holiday runs from October 1 (Thursday) to 8 (Thursday), a day longer than usual as it overlaps with the Mid-Autumn Festival which also falls on October 1. September 27 (Sunday) and October 10 (Saturday) are the make-up workdays. During the holiday, people may reunite with families and take trips.
