  • Firefighting Drill Held on Campus

    The photo, taken on November 12, shows a firefighter successfully rescues a “trapped person” by a scaling ladder during a fire drill on the campus of Hunan University. The university and the Five-Star Firefighting Squadron of Yuelu District of Changsha organized a firefighting safety publicity activity themed “preventing fire risks and building a beautiful campus” on that day.

  • Changsha Ranks 68th Worldwide in Urban Economic Competitiveness

    On November 12, the National Academy of Economic Strategy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the United Nations Programme for Human Settlements (UN-Habitat) jointly released The Global Urban Competitiveness Report 2019-2020: The world’s Changes over 300 Years after Urbanization. According to the report, Changsha ranked 68th worldwide in terms of urban economic competitiveness this year, up three places from the previous year. It is the third time that Changsha has entered the global top 100 in urban economic competitiveness.

  • Promotion Conference on National Culture and Tourism Consumption Work Held in Changsha

    The Promotion Conference on 2019 National Culture and Tourism Consumption Work and the Cultural and Tourism Consumption Training Course were held in Changsha on November 11. Luo Shugang, CPC Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) Leadership Group secretary and MCT minister, attended and delivered a speech. Before the meeting, Xu Dazhe, Hunan governor, met with him and his entourage.

  • Songya Lake National Wetland Park, a Wonderland for Wildlife

    The photo, taken on November 8, shows several common moorhens (Gallinula chloropus) play at sunset at the Songya Lake National Wetland Park in Changsha County. Covering an area of 5,535 mu (369 ha.), the park is Hunan’s largest urban ecological lake. So far, more than 40 species of birds have been spotted. The park has become a wonderland for wildlife.

  • Hunan’s First Firefighting-themed Metro Train Put into Service

    A firefighting-themed metro train set off from Changsha Metro Line 2’s Guangda Station at 10:25 a.m. on November 9. It is Hunan’s first metro train of its kind put into service. It runs on the busiest Changsha Metro Line 2. There are six cars with the theme of “Preventing fire risks and building a beautiful home”. Car doors and walls have firefighting cartoon images and various common firefighting hints, so that passengers can learn fire prevention and improve their safety awareness when riding the train.

  • Emergency Drill with New Technologies in Changsha

    Unmanned aerial vehicles, aquatic robots, amphibious boats...New Technologies are applied in an emergency drill in Changsha in central China's Henan Province to train rescuers in case of on-water-emergency.
