On the evening of September 27, the epic dance drama “Da Di Song Ge (the Ode to Hometown)” made its debut at the Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Center.
Du Jiahao, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, and Li Weiwei, chairwoman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, watched the drama together with representatives of poverty-relief officials and their family members.
Provincial leaders Wu Lan, Fu Kui, Huang Lanxiang, Wang Shaofeng, Hu Henghua, Xie Jianhui, Zhang Jianfei, Feng Yi, Zhang Hongsen, Li Dianxun, Yao Laiying, and Liu Lianyu, and Consul General of Laos in Changsha, Boun Inthabandith, also watched the drama.
The drama was created last year, based on a story of Hunan’s Shibadong Village. Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected Shibadong Village in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in November 2013, and first presented the concept of "targeted poverty alleviation". Over the past seven years, Hunan has implemented Xi’s instruction and forged ahead in poverty relief. A number of touching stories and persons emerged which provided dramatic models. A prominent performing and creation cast consisting of more than 300 from around the country has been formed, such as Gu Zhixin, He Jiong, Zhang Kaili, and Wan Qian. Outstanding Hunan performers are in the majority. The drama has a preface, six acts, and an epilogue. Song, dance, and music are innovatively integrated. Modern technologies are used to enable the audiences to have immersed interactions.
After the performance, provincial leaders including Du Jiahao, Xu Dazhe, Li Weiwei, and Wu Lan greeted the performers, and congratulated them on the great success of the debut show.
The drama was scheduled to be staged at the Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Center on September 28 and 29, and October 9 and 17. After that, it will make two shows at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing, on November 6 and 7.
