Mayor Zheng Jianxin Meets with Australian Guests

On September 16, Zheng Jianxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, mayor of Changsha, and secretary of the CPC Working Committee of the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, met with Mr. Michael Sadleir, consul-general of the Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou, and his entourage. Paul J. Sanda, deputy consul-general of the Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou; and, Xia Jianping, CPC Changsha Municipal Standing Committee member and Changsha executive vice mayor, attended.

Mayor Zheng, on behalf of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government, welcomed the guests. He said that, Changsha is a time-honored city with profound cultural connotations, a smart city with thriving industries, and an emerging city with innovative and open development. In recent years, the exchanges and cooperation between Changsha and Australia have become increasingly frequent, with initial results achieved. He hoped that the two sides will establish a communication mechanism for closer ties; promote exchanges and friendly exchanges among governments, enterprises and the people in various fields; and carry out deeper cooperation in advanced manufacturing, cultural tourism, education, science and technology, and trade and logistics. Changsha looks forward to having exchanges and establishing friendship with more Australian cities, so as to open up stable and smooth channels for expanding bilateral exchanges.

Mr. Michael Sadleir said that, during this visit, he was deeply impressed by Changsha’s vitality, beautiful scenery, and profound history. Changsha and Australia have long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship. He hoped that the two sides will continue to expand and deepen cooperation and exchanges, keep closer people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
