Hunan Shares COVID-19 Treatment Experience with Dominica
Dominica is a Central American country where a total of 488 COVID-19 confirmed cases have been reported. On March 27, medical experts from Hunan discussed important points and difficulties in epidemic prevention and control and patient treatment via a video conference with Dominican peers. The screening method of suspected cases, hormone dosage, nucleic acid detection accuracy rate, and medical staff self-protection were discussed. The originally planned two-hour conference was extended to three and a half hours.
Alma Morales, Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) representative in Dominica, expressed that, Hunan experts’ suggestions are very useful. The management and isolation of suspected cases, the three-level epidemic prevention and control system, and clinical treatment suggestions are all very valuable.
Hunan has translated its experiences in critical care and medical staff protection into foreign language versions. And they were presented to Dominica. Earlier, Hunan has donated N95 masks, goggles and other protective equipment to Dominica.
Hu Chengping, professor of the Respiration and Critical Care Department of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, and head of the Hunan Senior Medical Expert Group for COVID-19 Treatment, said that, communication is conductive to saving more lives and ending this global epidemic earlier.
