Changsha Issues Emergency Notice on Used Mask Disposal
People are using a large number of disposable masks to prevent and control the spread of coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
The Changsha Municipal Urban Management Department has issued an emergency notice which standardizes the disposal of used masks. Residents must dispose of the used masks correctly. All city departments are to standardize the collection, transportation and disposal of used masks.
The notice encourages the public to disinfect used masks and put them into special waste bins after simple breakage, tearing, or cutting.
It is recommended that masks used by symptomatic people under medical observation at home, be sprayed with “84 disinfectant” and then be thrown into “Other Waste” or “Dry Waste” bins.
Other masks used by ordinary residents can be directly put into “Other Waste” or “Dry Waste” bins. Wash hands immediately after putting them in.
