The 2019 China New Materials Industry Development Conference and Changsha International New Materials Industry Expo will be held in Changsha between November 14 and 16. They are sponsored by the Changsha Municipal People’s Government.
This year’s exhibition covers 20,000 square meters. Six major areas for such new materials as advanced hard materials will be set up, with over 400 exhibitors. More than 20,000 domestic and foreign experts and enterprise representatives in the new materials industry will attend.
Over 30 Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) academicians will also attend. Some of them will make keynote speeches at the conference or have discussions at a forum.
In the past, the new material industry was neglected in Hunan. However, after several years of development, the province’s new material industry has leaped from “backward” to “advanced”. The province leads the country in the new material industry, with obvious industrial advantages. In 2018, the output value achieved by the province’s new material enterprises exceeded 400 billion CNY.
In the field of new materials, the province has:
-- a number of key universities and research institutes, including the Central South University, National University of Defence Technology, Hunan University, Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and Hunan Rare Earth Institute;
-- more than 10 CAS and CAE academicians including Huang Boyun and Zhong Jue; and,
-- 6 national and 60 provincial innovation platforms.
