2019 Changsha International Marathon Opens
The 2019 Changsha International Marathon kicks off at the Helong Sports Center on October 27, with 24,000 runners taking part.

The marathon route covers the Helong Sports Center, Wuyi Square, Yuelu Academy, Xiangjiang River Scenic Belt, Orange Isle Scenic Area, and Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area.
The 2019 Changsha International Marathon opened at the Helong Sports Center at 7:30 am on October 27. A total of 24,000 runners from 15 countries and regions participated.
The opening ceremony was attended by Shui Tao, Social Activities Department director of the Track and Field Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Athletics Association; Wang Yifu, Olympic champion and Expert Committee member of the Chinese Olympic Committee; Wang Kemin, deputy secretary of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee; and, Li Shun, director of the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau.
CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Deputy Secretary Zhu Jian announced the opening of the competition. Municipal leaders Tang Xiangyang, Liu Mingli, and Li Ping also attended.
After fierce competition, Abdi Asefa Kebede from Ethiopia won the men’s marathon championship in 2 hours, 10 minutes and 23 seconds, and Tigist Teshome Ayasu from Ethiopia won the women’s marathon championship in 2 hours, 31 minutes and 43 seconds.
