Changsha Set to Become a National Logistics Hub
Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport jointly issued a Notice of Doing a Good Job in National Logistics Hub Construction in 2019. Twenty-three logistics hubs were included in the list of national logistics hub construction in 2019. Among them, Changsha was qualified to become a national logistics hub in the “land port” category.
There are six types of national logistics hubs: land, harbor, air, service-oriented, commerce and trade-oriented, and land border ports. Changsha is the only Hunan city with land, air, service-oriented, and commerce and trade-oriented ports.
Changsha now has 35,000 enterprises engaged in the logistics industry. Eighty-two are Class A logistics enterprises, accounting for 39.4% of the province total. Changsha invests more than 1.5 billion CNY in logistics infrastructure construction every year.
The Changsha Jinxia Logistics Hub is the only location in central China where such modes of transport as railway, waterway, highway, and pipeline, cluster and develop together. It is also among the first batch of national demonstration logistics parks.
So far, Changsha has opened more than 260 domestic and international air routes, including 5 international freight routes and 2 domestic freight routes.
The city has opened more than 10 China-Europe freight train routes linking European and Asian cities and traveling through 15 countries.
In terms of waterways, the city has 7 regional branch routes for international containers. Over 40 liners for international container import and export are operated every week.
The city has also opened shuttle trucks on its highways linking Changsha and 10 ASEAN countries.
The conditions for Changsha to integrate itself into the “Silk Road Economic Belt” through Chongqing Municipality to the west, and the “Maritime Silk Road” via Shanghai Municipality and Fujian Province to the east have become increasingly mature. The city’s highway, trunk road, and rural road networks have been improving.
