Mayor Hu Zhongxiong Meets with UK Guests

On August 28, Hu Zhongxiong, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, Changsha mayor, and secretary of the CPC Working Committee of the Xiangjiang New Area of Hunan Province, met with Graham Stuart, UK’s minister for investment at the Department for International Trade. Vice Mayor Chen Zhong attended.

Changsha and UK have increasingly close contacts and cooperation. Changsha has 32 UK-invested projects, and recently invested in 2 projects in UK. Between January and July, the imports and exports between Changsha and UK hit 270 million USD, up 107.53% over last year. UK has set up a visa service center in Changsha. There are more than 200 direct flights linking Changsha and London.

Mayor Hu welcomed the guests. He hoped that the two sides will further expand trade in intelligent manufacturing, inspection and testing products, and household goods; increase mutual investment; strengthen cooperation in science and technology, education, cultural tourism; and, promote people-to-people exchanges and visits.

Minister Stuart said that Changsha has a good business environment and people live a happy life here. Its investment and trade cooperation with UK has achieved remarkable results. He expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation with Changsha in creative industry, international education, and cultural tourism to achieve win-win development.
