Changsha Airport to Pilot Direct Luggage Transfer Service
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has announced a nationwide pilot plan for direct luggage transfer services at 8 airlines, including Air China, and 29 airports including Changsha Huanghua International Airport.
Passengers will no longer have to pick up and re-check their luggage when making a domestic flight transfer at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport. This will facilitate air passenger travel.
Currently, the coverage rate of direct routes between international hub airports and regional airports is 25.6 percent, and that of direct routes between regional airports is only 0.6 percent. A large number of passengers must transfer airlines. They often have to re-check their luggage and clear security when transferring to the next flight.
The new service can greatly save air passengers’ transfer time.
The pilot program includes two parts:
-Airport-led, trans-airline direct luggage transfer services. The airports will provide “responsive” direct luggage transfer services based on passenger requests; and,
-Airline-led, trans-airline direct luggage transfer services. There will be airline cooperation to provide direct luggage transfer services by such means as code-sharing, one-stop luggage delivery, and cooperative operation, in some airports or routes.
