Changsha Delegation Attends 4th US-China Sister Cities Conference
The 4th US-China Sister Cities Conference was held in Houston, Texas, USA on July 17, 2019.
A Changsha delegation led by Changsha Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee Deputy Director Yuan Liming, participated the conference. Yuan recommended Changsha and shared its experience in innovation and smart city development at the "Innovation and Smart City” panel session. His speech received a warm response and welcome from the participants.
He related that Changsha has 2,359 high-tech enterprises, accounting for more than half of the province's total. High-tech industry total output value increased by 15.1%. Technology contract turnover exceeded 14.5 billion CNY.
Changsha is making every effort to build an innovation and creativity city and invigorate the city by intelligent manufacturing and intelligent services. He hoped that through this conference, Changsha will continue to open the window for exchanges and cooperation with American cities in more areas.
The conference was co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Sister Cities International (SCI). The theme of the conference was "The Next Four Decades: Stronger Friendship and Closer Cooperation”. About 200 representatives from Chinese and US governments, enterprises, and educational institutions attended. Participants discussed topics such as innovative and smart cities, the maritime silk road and its impact, metropolitan cooperation and future economic growth, and China-foreign educational cooperation and exchange. They also strengthened China-US sister-city ties and promoted local practical cooperation.
