Macao Youth Delegation Visits Hunan
A 100-person Macao delegation of outstanding youths, and college and secondary school students visited Hunan for a four-day tour between July 18 and 21. Alexis Tam, secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government, led the delegation. Xue Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, was the counselor. Hunan Vice Governor Wu Guiying met with the delegates during their stay.
The delegation made this tour to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland. The delegates visited landmark spots and enterprises in Changsha, Shaoshan, and Zhuzhou, including Hunan TV, the Hunan Museum, the Yuelu Academy, the Changsha Planning Exhibition Hall, Orange Isle, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, Mao’s childhood residence, the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, and the Sany Group. They also learnt about Hunan’s profile and communicated with Hunan student representatives.
Some delegates remarks included:
“I can feel the ‘Chinese Dream’ in promoting independent innovation and building a manufacturing powerhouse during my visit to Sany Group and CRRC Zhuzhou Institute.”
“I always watch Hunan TV programs. It’s amazing to come to the recoding scene.”
Through this tour, the delegates were informed of Hunan’s economic and social development, and tasted the unique charm of Hunanese culture. These experiences gave them a better understanding of the brilliant achievements the People’s Republic of China has made since its founding. It enhanced their patriotism and sense of responsibility for taking forward the practice of “one country, two systems”. One commented, “We will share what we’ve seen with our friends, and promote patriotism and love of Macao.”
