Secretary Hu Henghua Meets with Mayor of Brazzaville, Congo
On June 28, Hu Henghua, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Standing Committee member and CPC Changsha Municipal Committee secretary, met with Christian Roger Okemba, mayor of Brazzaville, the Republic of the Congo, who was attending the First China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha.
Daniel Owassa, the ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to China; and Qiu Jixing, Changsha vice mayor, also attended.

Changsha and Brazzaville became international sister cities in 1982. Brazzaville is Changsha’s first international sister city. Changsha and Brazzaville are the first pair of sister cities established between China and Africa. Over the past 30 years and more, the “Changsha-Brazzaville friendship tree” has been growing. Exchanges and cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, and infrastructure construction have been deepened.
Secretary Hu, on behalf of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government welcomed the guests and briefed them on Changsha’s economic and social development. He said that Changsha and Brazzaville are important witnesses, practitioners and beneficiaries of the friendship between Chinese and African cities. The further implementation of the "Belt and Road" Initiative brings the two cities new major opportunities for combined development. In particular, the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, which is permanently held in Hunan, has provided a new platform for the two cities to deepen exchanges and cooperation. He hoped that, while inheriting and carrying forward the friendship, the two cities will further expand exchanges and cooperation in the fields of industrial development, urban construction, environmental protection, science, education, culture, and health, so as to open up new prospects for the development of the two cities.
Brazzaville Mayor Christian Roger Okemba hoped that, under the background of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, Changsha and Brazzaville will further improve the cooperation and exchange mechanism, and build exchange and cooperation platforms. He believed that the friendship foundation between the two cities will be more solid, more fruitful cooperation results will be achieved, and a better future will be led to.
