2019 Traditional Chinese Sports International Championships Open in Changsha
The 2019 Traditional Chinese Sports International Championships kicked off at Yueliangdao Football Cultural Park in Wangcheng District, Changsha on June 7. Li Shun, Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau director; Gao Shan, CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Standing Committee member and Publicity Department director; and Li Ping, CPPCC Changsha Municipal Committee vice chairman and Changsha Municipal Sports Bureau director, attended the opening ceremony.
The two-day competition was hosted by the World Leisure Organization (WLO) China Folk Leisure Committee. It had four dance events: dragon; lion; drum; and kylin. Over 280 athletes from more than 10 teams from the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei, Mongolia, and China’s Hong Kong and Macao participated.
Li Ping hoped that, by holding these championships, more traditional sports at home and abroad will be introduced to Changsha, making it a world traditional sports cultural exchange center, and giving it a new cultural calling card for foreign exchanges.
