Traffic Tips for Duanwu Festival Holiday
On May 29, Amap, the leading Chinese mapping service provider, together with relevant departments released a report on festival travel prediction during Duanwu Festival 2019 (also known as the Dragon Boat Festival). This year, the Duanwu Festival holiday lasts from June 7 to 9. It is expected that the first travel peak will be between 15:00 and 20:00 on June 6, one day before the holiday. During the holiday, the peak hours for expressways will be between 9:00 and 12:00 on the first day (June 7), and between 15:00 and 21:00 on the last day (June 9).
This year’s Duanwu Festival holiday coincides with the National College Entrance Examination. It is suggested to make reasonable travel arrangements during off-peak hours.
Expressways will not be toll-free during the holiday. Drivers will have to pay a toll as usual if they choose the expressways. It is anticipated that some sections of the following expressways will face heavy traffic during the holiday:
G5513 Changsha-Zhangjiajie Expressway;
G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway;
G0401 Changsha Belt Expressway;
S20 Changsha-Liuyang Expressway;
S50 Changsha-Shaoshan-Loudi Expressway; and,
G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway.
The most crowded toll stations around Changsha will be Changsha West Toll Station and Yuhua Toll Station. The most crowded roads in the city proper will be Yulan Road and East Renmin Road (east side of Yada Road).
