CAE Academicians Give a Thumbs-up to Changsha’s “Internet Plus” Development

Updated: 2019-04-26

On April 25, members of the "Internet Plus" Action Plan and Strategy Research (2035) Project Team of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) visited Changsha’s industrial parks. They assessed Changsha’s "Internet Plus" development by visiting enterprises, listening to demands, and holding seminars.

Led by 11 CAE academicians, 65 experts and scholars were divided into four investigation groups. They respectively visited enterprises such as Sany Group, Changsha Intelligent Driving Institute, China Unicom Cloud Data Center, Bosch Automobile, and Long Ping High-Tech.

As of December last year, Changsha had more than 26,000 mobile Internet enterprises, accounting for 60% of the province’s total. The industrial pattern of "cluster + professional industrial park + makerspace" was formed. "Internet Plus" was widely used in construction machinery, intelligent transportation, modern agriculture, and intelligent medical treatment.

"Changsha has obvious advantages and broad prospects in artificial intelligent connected vehicles platform construction, scenario application, and industrial chain construction," said Liu Jingnan, an academician who specializes in satellite navigation and automatic driving.

Academician Wang Jiayao gave a thumbs-up to the research of a new material company in the Ningxiang High-tech Zone. He said that the company highly integrated the government, industry, academia, and research efforts, opening up a new road for the “Internet Plus intelligent manufacturing” development.

Academician Sun Jiulin expressed his appreciation for Longping Science and Technology Park's application of "Internet Plus" to breeding. He thought that informatization is a prerequisite for modern agriculture.

Hu Henghua, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Standing Committee member and CPC Changsha Municipal Committee secretary, met with representatives of the project team and had a discussion with them.
