UNOOSA Director Simonetta Di Pippo Talks Outer Space with High School Students
On April 25, the 2019 "China Space Day" Science Popularization Education Activity was held at the First High School of Changsha. Ms. Simonetta Di Pippo, director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), gave a lecture to more than 300 students on the theme of "United Nations Space Exploration and Science and Technology".
UNOOSA Director Simonetta Di Pippo is an internationally-renowned aerospace expert. Over the years, she has been engaged in the study of space science, manned flight, space debris, and meteorites threat. In 2008, the International Astronautical Federation named the asteroid 21887 "Di Pippo".
During the lecture, Simonetta Di Pippo introduced the current international aerospace achievements and the important role played by UNOOSA in promoting the peaceful use of outer space. She also shared her work experience in the aerospace field and encouraged everyone to take an active part in aerospace industry construction and make their own contributions to the development of the international aerospace industry.
Liao Dequan, principal of the First High School of Changsha, warmly welcomed Simonetta Di Pippo. He urged all students to follow the example of aerospace heroes, academicians, and experts, set lofty ideals, pursue science and technology, and contribute to the human civilization and social progress.
