More than 834,000 Hunan SMEs
There were more than 834,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hunan Province by the end of 2018. This is more than 99% of the total number of enterprises. Nearly 85% of all employees are employed by these enterprises. This figure was announced at the opening ceremony of the Hunan Provincial SMEs Service Center on April 21, 2019.
The Hunan Provincial SMEs Service Center (HPSSC) was founded with the combination of the former Hunan Nonferrous Metals Administration and the Hunan SME Service Center. The plaque of the center was conferred on April 20, in accordance with the new round of institutional reform requirements. It is officially affiliated as an assisting role of departments or equivalents subsidiary to the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology (HPDIIT).
Yang Wangping, director of the newly-established HPSSC, said the center will build five service platforms. The platforms are: the Public Service Platform; the Science and Technology Service Platform; the SME Financing Service Platform; the Small and Micro-sized Enterprise Entrepreneurship and Innovation Base, and the SME Talent Training Base”. With the help of the three research institutes directly under the former Hunan Provincial Nonferrous Metals Administration, it will provide public welfare and basic science and technology services for small and medium-sized enterprises. It will also promote their industry-university-research-implementation integrated innovations and the transfer of scientific and technological achievements.
Cao Huiquan, HPDIIT director, believed that the newly-founded HPSSC will give full play to the talents and sci-tech advantages of the former Hunan Provincial Nonferrous Metals Administration and the preferential policies and financing advantages of the former Hunan SME Service Center. It will guide small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the construction of emerging advantageous industrial chains in Hunan, promote the development of large and medium-sized enterprises, and jointly promote the construction of a strong powerhouse, he added.
