2019 China Space Day Celebrations in Changsha
The China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced on April 17 that, the 2019 China Space Day ceremony will be held in Changsha, Hunan. Main celebrations are hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND), CNSA, and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government; and, organized by the Chinese Society of Astronautics, and Hunan University.

There will be more than 20 activities, including opening ceremony, the Conference of China Space Industry Empowering the UN with the Realization of Sustainable Target , 2nd China Space Conference, and Hunan Space Industry Development Forum.

CNSA will publicize a statement that Chinese space industry will keep empowering the UN with the sustainable target;
SASTIND will present a “China Space Day” flag to Hunan University;
The China Space Foundation will commend the personnel who have made prominent contributions to Chinese space industry. Two important space project awards, and 10 outstanding contribution awards will be granted.
Conference of China Space Industry Empowering the UN with the Realization of Sustainable Target
Date: April 24 – 27, 2019
The conference aims to facilitate realizing UN’s sustainable development target, based on promoting space technology development. It will, for the first time, match space industrial development demands with solutions around the world, in a bid to sort out space technologies and their contributions to sustainable development, and support the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs’ (UNOOSA) “Space 2030 Agenda”.
More than 100 guests from over 40 countries and dozens of international organizations, and leaders of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, MIIT, Meteorological Administration, and Hunan government, will attend.
CNSA will hold a China-Europe Earth Observation Seminar, and China-Russia Moon Observation Seminar, collaborating with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities.
2nd China Space Conference
Date: April 23 – 25, 2019
The conference is hosted by the Chinese Society of Astronautics and the China Space Foundation. Four serial activities, with academic, industrial, scientific, and cultural creation orientations, will be organized from the aspects of space science, space technology, and space application, to show cutting-edge space technology, discuss space industry prospects, and boost global cooperation. The major seminar will be held at the Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center on April 24 (13:30-18:00), with sub-forums in Hunan University and Central South University.
Hunan Space Industry Development Forum
Date: April 24, 2019
Persons in charge of related state and Hunan departments, and academicians and experts in space science, will discuss Hunan’s space industry development, and Hunan’s breakthroughs in spacecraft, general aviation, aerospace materials and electronic engineering, and satellite application. A group of space industry cooperative projects will be promoted.
Hunan University is a major organizer of the 2019 China Space Day. It will assist in 6 activities, and undertake 4 forums:
- 3rd President Forum on China Aerospace Science and Technology Education;
- Subtropics Remote Sensing Application Forum;
- International Youth Space Education Forum; and,
- 2019 Chinese Society of Astronautics Young Experts Forum.
Various cultural activities will be launched supported by Hunan’s broadcasting Film and TV Group. Hunan TV will stage a space themed programme on its Day Day Up talk show on April 21, and hold a live streaming of the China Space Day celebration. Chinese leading figures in space industry will give interviews on the “People in News” programme. Beyond that, a space-themed fireworks show is planned.
