Yuan Wu, executive vice president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (CGCC) and deputy of the 9th, 10th, and 11th National People’s Congress (NPC), led a delegation of former NPC deputies from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to visit Changsha on the morning of April 9. Xiang Lili, Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee deputy director; and Cheng Shuiquan, Changsha Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee director, accompanied them on the tour.

The delegation visited Orange Isle and Yuelu Academy that day. They paid tribute to Chairman Mao in front of the Young Mao Zedong Statue on Orange Isle, and felt the profound culture of the ancient millenarian academy, Yuelu Academy. They gave a thumbs up to Changsha’s strong cultural atmosphere and harmonious living environment. They hope to take this opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and trust, and cooperation between Changsha and Hong Kong, in a bid to promote sound and rapid economic and social development of the two places.

On April 12, the delegation will take an inspection tour to Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone and Liuyang City.
