International Youth Forum Pre-Opening Ceremony
The 2019 Changsha Media Arts Festival and the International Youth Forum (IYF) on Creativity and Heritage Along the Silk Road opened March 31 evening. Before the opening ceremony, young forum participants had an ice-breaking gathering. The event encourages making friends and sharing history and culture.
The organizing committee held the “meet and greet” to help attendees get to know each other. Volunteers came from different cities and universities.
African delegates broke the ice and shouted in a passionate African style, as if they were in the African savannah. A happy and lively atmosphere developed. Attendees introduced themselves and their countries to others in their own ways which included singing and dancing, and reciting poetry. The cheerful introductions included: “My name is Tan, I am from Singapore,”; "My name is Kane, from Senegal,” and, "I am Farah, from Somalia."
Changsha college students did the honors at the gathering with performances. A dragon dance raised the curtain on the event. The dancers included students from different countries studying in Central South University. “Don’t they perform well after such a short time learning?” the host asked the delegates who cheered and applauded loudly.
