Hunan to Create More Favorable Environment for Global Investors

Updated: 2019-01-17

The 2019 Spring Festival Symposium for Foreign-invested Enterprises of Hunan Province was held in Changsha on January 15. It was attended by representatives from 3 Global Fortune 500 companies like Flex, Continental Group, and CITIC Prudential, and nearly 30 foreign-invested enterprises such as Wal-Mart, Foxconn, Ericsson, Fiat Chrysler, GAC Mitsubishi, and Schaeffler. Representatives from resident offices of overseas regional governments and business associations in Hunan also participated. They shared experiences and put forward suggestions. Hunan Vice Governor He Baoxiang attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Since its inception in 1995, the symposium has developed into a platform for direct communication between government organs and foreign-invested enterprises in Hunan. Xu Xiangping, director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce (HPDC), briefed on the handling progress of 23 issues and suggestions put forward by 13 enterprises and institutions at the last session. By the end of 2018, 19 issues and suggestions had been satisfactorily resolved; the remaining four issues and suggestions are processing.

Vice Governor He asked the HPDC and relevant departments to pay high attention to the opinions and suggestions put forward by participating enterprises, and sort out, handle and reply them as soon as possible. More efforts shall be exerted to promote reform and opening up, structural adjustment, and innovation; and focus on optimizing business environment, effectively easing burdens on companies, and strengthening integrity and the rule of law. This helps create a more favorable environment for global investors.
