Hunan’s Airports See Record Passenger Throughput
By December 28, the annual passenger throughput of Hunan airports exceeded 30 million trips for the first time, according to the Hunan Airport Management Group. All Hunan’s airports hit their record high in terms of annual passenger throughput. The Changsha Huanghua International Airport (CHIA) is expected to handle 25.3 million trips this year; Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (ZHIA), Changde Taohuayuan Airport (CTA), and Hengyang Nanyue Airport (HNA) exceeded 2.15 million, 0.7 million, and 0.8 million trips, respectively.
Currently, Hunan has seven civil aviation airports, with 360 routes in operation. Changsha airport operates 45 international and regional ones. Passengers can fly from Changsha to 31 cities in 12 “Belt and Road” countries and regions, on the front rank in central China.
Hunan airports’ annual cargo throughput amounted to 145,000 tons in the first 11 months, increasing by 12.4% compared with last year. In specific:
1. CHIA’s cargo throughput reached 142,000 tons, a year-on-year growth of 12.5%, far beyond the average growth level in South Central China; and,
2. The international cargo throughput exceeded 27,000 tons, a year-on-year growth of 115.5%.
Changsha has four international cargo air routes, namely Changsha - Ho Chi Minh, Changsha - North America (Chicago and Halifax, Canada), Changsha - Dhaka, and Changsha - Manila.
Next, Hunan will optimize its airport management to build the regional international aviation hub, so as to become an international first-class airport in all respects.
