China First Smart Driving Bus Line Launched on Open Roads in Xiangjiang New District
On December 28 morning, the first smart bus demonstration line opens for a trial running at the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Test Area in the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, Changsha. This is China’s first intelligent driving bus demonstration line on open roads.
The security guard does not need to hold the steering wheel while the smart bus passes through traffic lights, makes turns, and stops as scheduled.
The smart bus starts smoothly from the test area and runs along the scheduled route. In spite of complicated traffic conditions, the bus successfully passed through traffic lights, made turns, and stopped as scheduled.
It is the first open smart bus project in China, with a total length of 7.8 kilometers from the origin station to the terminus, and 22 stations set along the two-way course. It links the route starting from the intersection of Wangjiang Road and Xueshi Road, to the terminal station Xuexin Square. In the first phase, 4 CRRC electric intelligent driving buses will be put into trial operation.
