Vice Mayor Shu Xinggang Meets with Guests from the Philippines
On December 4, Shu Xinggang, CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Standing Committee member and executive vice mayor, met with Marshall Louis M. Alferez, Philippine consul-general in Guangzhou, and his entourage.
The commercial and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between Changsha and the Philippines have increased, and the friendly-city relationship between Changsha and Vigan of the Philippines deepened. In 2016, Changsha implemented the “TCM Care Plan” of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council to send famous Hunan TCM doctors to the Philippines for free medical treatment. Since 2017, Changsha has successively opened direct flights to Boracay, Cebu, and Puerto Princesa of Palawan. In September 2018, Changsha opened a regular cargo flight to Manila.
Shu pointed out that the Philippines is an important partner of China in taking the “Belt and Road” initiative, while Changsha is an important “Belt and Road” city. He hopes that under the background of deepening friendly cooperation and advancing the “Belt and Road” initiative, Changsha and the Philippines will further strengthen pragmatic cooperation and in-depth exchanges in economy and trade, tourism, and other fields so as to promote friendly cooperative relations between the two sides.
Marshall Louis M. Alferez said that Changsha is a city full of vitality and charm, and the Philippines would like to enhance cooperation with Changsha. He hopes that the two sides will have more cooperation opportunities in trade, investment, cultural tourism, and cultural exchanges, and join hands for common development and mutual benefits.
