Each era has its own literature and art; each era has its distinctive spirit. On Dec. 4, an exhibition entitled "Beautiful China--Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up: National Chinese Painting Exhibition" was opened at the Hunan Exhibition Hall. It was sponsored by the Chinese Artists Association, and the Hunan Federation of Literature and Art Circles; and hosted by the Arts Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Hunan Artists Association, Hunan Provincial Painting Academy, and Hunan Art Gallery.
The exhibition displays more than 200 Chinese paintings from 200-odd artists across China. They include 36 paintings submitted to the Chinese Artists Association for applying for membership; 19 by specially invited artists; and, 164 selected works.
These works have rich subject matter and diversified forms. Brush and ink were adopted harmoniously; and the colors presented brilliantly. They embodied the great beauty of Chinese painting. The artists observed people’s lives, fates and emotions, in order to get access to every aspect of life through their paintings. Through the painting, they told China’s stories, and expressed people’s wishes, moods and feelings. Their works not only depicted China’s outlook, but also reflected the changes of the times.
The exhibition will open to the public free of charge until Dec. 10.
