Hunan Culture Promoted in Dusseldorf of Germany

A grand cultural exchange event themed “Hunan Culture Promoted in Germany” was inaugurated in Dusseldorf on Oct. 29, 2018. About 500 people were present at the opening ceremony, including CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Standing Committee member and Hunan Publicity Department Director Cai Zhenhong, China Overseas Friendship Association Vice Chairman Tan Tianxing, Chinese Consul-general in Dusseldorf Feng Hiayang, Director Great China of the Economic Development Agency of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) Dr. Fu Qiang, Association for Germany-China Friendship (GDCF) Vice Chairman and GDCF Dusseldorf Chairman Dieter Böning, as well as representatives from Dusseldorf political, economic and cultural circles, and overseas Chinese.

Cai Zhenhong marked that Hunan has friendly ties with Germany for long. Germany is the largest European trade partner of Hunan. Hunan and Germany both have profound culture, and have made remarkable contributions to the world’s civilization. This event is aimed to facilitate cultural exchanges, deepen German people’s understanding of Hunan, and promote friendship and cooperation.

At the ceremony, Hunan and German performers staged a “Drinking Song” of Chinese Dong ethnic group. The audiences were impressed by Dong people’s heroic manner in drinking and toasting presented through the dance. At present, the Oktoberfest (beer festival) is being held in Germany. German girls in traditional costumes staged cheerful festival dance. Chinese and German participators drank a toast with Chinese liquor and German beer.
