17th “Chinese Bridge” Contestants Sit for a Written Exam
On the morning of July 6, 2018, contestants attending the 17th "Chinese Bridge" Foreign College Student Chinese Proficiency Competition sat for a written exam at the Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College.
The result will be regarded as raw score and calculated into the "Cross the Bridge" test. The exam consists of five parts: listening comprehension, multiple choice, true/false, gap filling, and Chinese writing. It is not only an assessment of contestants’ language proficiency, but also a test of their understanding of Chinese knowledge and Chinese culture. The exam assesses contestants’ Chinese language proficiency from three aspects: words, phrases, and sentences.
The “Chinese Bridge” Foreign College Student Chinese Proficiency Competition is a large-scale international Chinese language proficiency competition organized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban). Since 2002, it has been held successfully for 16 sessions, attracting millions of young people from more than 110 countries. The Chinese Bridge Competition is aimed at stimulating their enthusiasm to learn Chinese and enhancing their understanding of Chinese language and Chinese culture. At present, it has served as a bridge of culture and friendship between China and world for young people.
