First intelligent restroom to open to the public this week
Face-recognition toilet tissue machines, WiFi, intelligent control system, etc, since these concepts Changsha’s first intelligent restroom were unveiled last month, it has aroused numerous curiosity.
“The restroom is still undergoing final decoration. The internal equipment installation and exterior greening would be completed in these two days, and it will officially open to the public this week,” introduced by Peng Zhanshuai, a staff from Changsha Lvli Environmental Protection Technology Corporation Limited . He added that the intelligent restroom, covering a construction area of about 150 square meters, is flowed with technology cells in its “whole body”.
Outside the intelligent toilets, reporters turned on WiFi search and soon got connected to the public WiFi called “HL-toilet” with smooth speed of internet access. Two square-shaped machines are installed on the right side wall at the entrance; one is a phone recharging station with multiple data lines, the other is a face-recognition toilet paper machine.
On the site, a citizen had a first experience of “ face-scanning to take toilet papers”. 3 seconds after he stood on the yellow line facing the scanning area of the toilet roll machine, the machine completed face recognition and extended 40 cms of original wood pulp paper . “Face-scanning to take the paper” was not a gimmick but a way to prevent the waste of toilet paper” revealed by Pengzhan Shuai, adding that the same one could not repeatedly take papers within a short period of time as the machine has automatic memory function.
On the wall right before the entrance there hangs a 60-inch LED screen, which can not only play music and videos, but also function as a display window of intelligent management system. After logging in the management system, you can get real-time information on map and usage situation, temperature, humidity, water consumption, electricity consumption, and even the use timeout of toilets.
How is the real-time usage of the toilet delivered to the system? The secret lies inside the high-tech door. As was introduced by Peng Zhanshuai, an intelligent sensor was installed inside every toilet door , so when the door was locked, the small screen above the door would show the “occupied” sign and simultaneously data about in-use toilet would be uploaded immediately to the intelligent management system. After citizens finished and pushed the door, the toilet would also automatically sense to flush.
Once inside the Men's room, the first thing that catches your eye are the LED lights, which are painted with blue sky and white cloud on the roof. Staff was installing a wall-mounted public toilet deodorant system. This machine resembled an air-conditioning on-hook machine and would become the “gatekeeper” of the toilet air quality in the future. There are 5 toilets and 11 urinals in Men’s toilet. According to staff, proportion of the toilet seats are also more humane —15 toilet seats in Women’s toilet.
In addition to technology elements, this intelligent toilet is also full of human kindness. A small room next to the Men's toilet is a caring “the third restroom”. It is not too large but “fully equipped”. Inside it there are special toilets and urinals for children, stations for baby care and baby seats to meet the needs of special groups.
