Over 200,000 Juvenile Fringetails were released into Wei River

Ningxiang launched one-hundred-day action about fishery management and enforcement of the lawOn Dec 4, one-hundred-day action of fishery management and law enforcement was launched in Ningxiang City. A batch of illegal fishing gears including 13 electrofishing boats were destructed on the spot and over 200 thousand juvenile Fringetails were released into Wei River.


This action, lasting 100 days, intends to crack down on illegal behaviors such as discarding dead livestock and poultry into water areas and using electricity, poisons, explosives and other means in fishing through the joint work of various cities, townships and departments. This aims at helping promote ecological construction. Yesterday, a batch of illegal fishing gears, including 13 electrofishing boats and 135 backpack electrofishing machines were destroyed. Meanwhile, hundreds of citizens competed to release over 200 thousand juvenile fringetails into Wei River. “The use of electricity in fishing will lead to the extinguishing of some fish and security accidents”. According to Hou Zhiming, a villager at Li Jingpu Street, Qunxing Village, were it electrofishing boats or machines are extremely destructive. Intensive regulations should be conducted to eradicate such boat or machine.
