Changsha Environmental Protection Bureau calls for green travel
It was learned from Changsha Environmental Protection Bureau on Oct 10 that the number of days with good air quality had amounted to 212 from January to September in Changsha and the excellent rate had reached 77.7%, which is an increase of 9 days and 3.6% over the same period last year.. Haze is highly likely to occur during autumn and winter. Changsha Environmental Protection Bureau calls for citizens to stick to green transportation and consumption and jointly make their contributions to creating good air quality in Changsha.
Since this year, Changsha has greatly advanced haze-cleansing activities and key measures such as coal reducing, air quality management, car control and dust suppression have been implemented. What’s more, the city government has strengthened the lampblack management and tightened the supervision on outdoor barbecues at stand points of night market. According to the responsible man from Changsha Environmental Protection Bureau, Changsha will continue to take effective measures to curb pollutions due to coal-burning and tighten supervision on industrial enterprises whose production operates on gas . These measures also intend to curb dust pollution, cooking oil fuming pollution, and vehicle exhaust pollution. The most severe problems and the direct causing factors will be dealt with in the first place- in order to lower the frequency of heavy air pollution in autumn and winter thus effectively improving the air quality and the living environment.
